Today we celebrate Blog Action Day. .. an annual event that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day. Their aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion. This year the subject is climate change.. So here goes our contribution..
What would you do if a group of professionals called you and told you that your house was in danger and you have to take urgent action if you want to keep holding on to it? I imagine that after the first shock you would start to fix it as soon as possible and amend what you have done wrong to get into this situation because it is the home where you and your family live and you do not want to see it destroyed or deteriorated.
For many years, scientists have been warning us about the peril we face if we continue emitting an excessive amount of toxic gases into the environment that can produce the much-toutedgreenhouse effectand will end up with global warming that will hold dire consequences for everyone. This planet, our true home, where we live is undergoing a change in its metabolism and directly affects us all.
Finally someone has started to do something more than just theorize about how the plastic bag actually contaminates, how it takes 400 years to degrade, how it builds 4 grams of CO2 in its production, how it damages marine plants …
Carrefour, with an excellent business perspective, and informative website “give the environment a hand” has taken the solidarity lead nd launches a line of bags with different price points, materials and uses with which it aims to go make the bolsas caca” disappear.
This morning was very sad to see the Albufereta beach after yesterday’s rains. Again the sand has been drawn back and there is major fissure that divides this place where we used to spend pleasant hours hanging out in both the winter and summer.
I guess this afternoons rains have not helped recover the appearance of these past days, and they say tomorrow, Tuesday will also bring on more rain which could be devastating.
Apparently, the Barranco del Juncaret overflowed and that provoked all this. In addition, strong gusty winds uprooted trees, branches and even the occasional streetlight in the area.
More worryingly, perhaps is that it is just the beginning of the season where the threat of “gota fria” has not yet arrived, and some suggest that this year could be a bad one.
Anyway we comfort ourselves with that saying “never rained that did not stop,” and I guess we will have to fill in our sand of our beloved Albufereta beach once again…
The good weather is finally here, after a hard winter or what we always say has been the worst winter of all, and this is the time of year I like to call the season of the costumes, because you’ll find people in short sleeves and sandals or evena scarf and coat, my closet is a disaster because I start mixing different seasons and the worst thing is I don’t know what to wear. ..
I’m not sure if this happens to you, but every year when I start making the season change in my closet I don’t know what to do or what to get rid off.. I say to myself….. this was my mothers or, I will keep this so I could wear it when I lose weigh, or I’m sure this will come back in style… and so on. The good thing is that this year I purchased items, which never go out of fashion and always will be a base in my closet. Am I maturing or is my pocket getting thin?
