Long October Weekend

Published by under entertainment,tourists,vacation

If the weather continues to be as beautiful as it has been this long weekend promises to be a treat for all Alicantinos and tourist who will be here this month. Today is the beggining of what many refer to as “Puente del Pilar”, most people don’t even know why there is a celebration all they know is they have a day off from work and what is more a 4 day weekend.. (in some cases, because I know there are many of you who will be working..)

What to do, What to do.. It seems, we have just gotten back to our routines from the Summer Vacation so what are we to do now.. In this part of the world there are so many options you don’t know where to start.. Living here in the Alicante province and specially Playa San Juan, we don’t really need to go anywhere to enjoy a relaxing weekend.. We have the beaches, the night life, and all the sun we want.. (let’s hope those nasty rain showers don’t invade us again..

What do we recommend for this weekend? Well, you can take a look at our Agenda to see what is going on around the neighborhood, or our directory for a list of hotels and restaurants.. and if you decided to get away, camping is a great idea this time of year..check out our partner site camping y casas for all the information you will need to get on the road to nature..

Cruises, Alicante is a port

Great News (not everything has to be negative) The Mayor, the chairman of  Port Authority and the General Director  of MSC Cruises announced that starting next September, the port of Alicante will be the place of embarkation for the cruise service company that will ship “MSC Orchestra and MSC Opera.”

No one escapes the importance and the impact this news has. The cruises in recent times have become a very convenient way to travel due to the comforts offered (You take the hotel  with you and you can visit several countries, with exceptional service aboard all at a very affordable cost, if you consider what they offer) they move thousands of passengers each year and the ports that receive them (as is that of Alicante) obtain a “financial injection” which comes very handy.

Welcome tourists!

Spanair discounts

The other day I was booking a business trip for my husband and I went to the Spanair website and found they are having an awsome promotion. When you purchase any ticket from now until April 5th, you will have the option of unveiling a daisy which will let you know if you have received a 5%, 25%, 50% or 100% off on your next ticket!!

We got a code for our next purchase for 25% off! Pretty cool since my husband does a lot of traveling and we will be turning that coupon in very soon. So Spring Break is almost here, do you have any plans to go anywhere? Visit Spanair and save..

Virtual Tourist

Published by under tourists,travel

I love to travel, and when I do I like to be prepared, I like to read up on all the information I can about the place I’m going to visit. That is why I love Virtual Tourist because it gives you all the information you need about a specific city given by locals or turists who have visited that city.

It is a great way to ge the insights and recomendation of others who either live in your destination city or have visited and could tell you what to do, where to go and what not to do. I think it is a great tool you should all use in your next vacation.

Alicante is one of the city’s reviewed..you can also sign up and give information about your city or a place you have been so you can also help others..

Home for Home Exchange your home

Published by under tourists,vacation,travel

I must say that out of a crisis comes the most terrific ideas. And in one of my favorite blogs Sindinero.org I found an interesting article about a new way of finding a place to stay when you go on vacation called Home for Home.

All you need to do is register at their website, place a picture and information about your home and then start searching places you would like to visit and see if you can make a deal with someone to make a home exchange for your holiday. It is totally free and you never know you may make some friends along the way and get to visit many different places you would maybe not even think of visiting and have a place to stay for free, which is one of the most expensive parts of a vacation.

Give it a try this holiday season..Start soon Spring break is around the corner..
