What we lose at the beach

Published by under beach

I’m sure every single one of you has lost an item or two at the beach, it is as if the sand had a magnet of some sort that attracted small objects and swalloed them whole. And the funniest thing of all (ok, it’s not very funny) is that the objects we lose are the ones we truly need and the objects we should take car of the most. A report from Europa Press informs us that among the items found by the beach cleaning staff are: movile phones, keys and documentation like ID cards and drivers license.

The Alicante beach cleaning crew has put in place a clean up operation for the Postiguet, Urbanova, Albufereta, Almadraba and Playa San Juan beaches. This service begins the 3:00 in the morning and runs until 08:30 in the morning. A team of 17 men perform a wide cleaning work in several stages, with the help of a tractor to remove objects and a vehicle to clean garbage bins which are placed in a container for this purpose. Alicante City Hall should be congratulated for this great effort of maintaining our beaches clean.

If you have lost something at the beach you can get in touch with your corresponding police department where the cleaning crews have deposited all found articles. Good Luck!!

La Esquina del Pollo Restaurant

Published by under restaurants

La Esquina del Pollo is another small beach restaurant in Playa San Juan that is worth a visit, but do not be fooled by its name, this establishment, which of course offers exquisite chicken, is much more; among other things we suggest the carne a la parilla, grilled to your liking and Argentine empanadas (meat or chicken) a delight. You can eat at the place or order take out. Their prices are very reasonable and the customer service excellent!

For address and phone number information please visit our directory.

Let´s keep Our Beaches Clean

Published by under beach,tourists

beach.jpg

In past posts we have given you tips on how to protect yourselves on the beach, from the sun, vendors and even children and their balls and I think it is about time we speak a bit about defending the Beach from us. There we go to have fun, get cool, relax and get together with friends, and the sea generously offers us all that, but sometimes we do not care about taking care of it and defending it. Papers, glass and plastic bottles, paper bags, waste and whatever else you can imagine is left on the sand. All these things are not only dangerous and make the beach dirty, but they also cause pollution in the environment.

If we all strive just a little bit we could at least maintain our Playa San Juan in “good health” and highlight its natural beauty. Lets emulate Kobe Bryant and Gasol and “lets hoop” papers and other waste into the bins where they should be.

New Regulations

Published by under Alicante,beach,vacation

bander-aroja.jpg

A few days ago we published a funny post about street vendors in the beach and perhaps the Board of the Local Government, read it or it is mere coincidence, but on May 19th new laws were approved for the beaches of Alicante. Some of them are: heavy fines for those who enter the water when the red flag is up (very important), playing ball while bothering those who are sunbathing, peddling by unauthorized personnel, windsurfing or kitesurfing outside the designated areas and more serious offenses, such as making a fire on the beach or using balls made of gas, among others.

We feel it is a great idea that local authorities have taken this initiative for the comfort of bathers and hopefully all new laws will be obeyed. This way our Playa San Juan will continue to be a paradise.
