As it turns out a private company has requested permission to construct an automatic car wash in Avenida Costa Blanca at number 62 and the neighbors are alarmed at the impact this may have and are opposed at the instalation of such.

The neighbors are collecting signatures in order to get to 1000. They are also requesting  a photo of the signer to provide more accuracy. On the other hand they also seek to simulate the noise that this car wash would have to those who live near the future instalation to prove the inconvenience it will cause to the inhabitants of the area..

Today, from our Playa San Juan blog I would like to ask for the cooperation of all our readers. As we all know (and if not, we should all know), the sad reality that is lived in the Saharawi refugee camps (a former Spanish colony) on a daily basis.

And if added to this already distressed situation is the weather element which has caused massive floods in in recent months.

That is why they are making an appeal for food to be scent to them as soon as possible. The slogan of this campaign is “Put 1kg +1 Euro”, and what they are asking is for everyone to collaborate by providing a kilo of sugar, lentils, rice plus a euro. It is something that means so little to us that it even seems laughable, but it is not, it is something very serious, knowing that with this small contribution we can help people who have so much to do with us (although they are far away) and therefore need us.

This morning, there was a demonstration by High school and University students in front of the headquarters of the Directorate of the Department of Education in Alicante.

Young people were protesting against the so-called Bologna process (process of convergence that was designed to facilitate an effective exchange of graduates as well as the contents of university studies to social demands), which is very extensive and complicated, and that seems to be affecting the educational system of our country. (And which is getting worse, who knows what awaits us, because we have is already  pretty bad)

On one of those coincidences of life, I was at the scene of the demonstration, which has finished with three young detainees for climbing over a car and hitting a policeman (all this according to law enforcement).

As I say, I was there, and it is true that young people were exited (as is normal for their age), but it is also true that I observed a “somewhat rough” treatment on the part of police officers, kids claim they were treated harshly, not sure if that’s the correct word to use, but if it is true that  they were treated a little bit harder than necessary (in my opinion).

At no time did I see any of them jump on top or a care or get our of control, but I did not witness the entire manifestation. Let’s just hope there is a peaceful solution to this education problem will affect many young teenagers and so many more who will be teenagers soon.
