Santa Faz Pilgrimage Today at 8 am
Rise and shine everyone, if you are up for it today is the traditional Christian pilgrimage called Santa Faz. You will need to be awake bright and early and be ready to walk the eight kilometer pilgrimage that starts at the San Nicholas Cathedral and ends at the Santa Faz Monastery at 8 am.
A tradition for years, it is the 2nd largest pilgrimage in Spain and is very meaningful to many. The Santa Faz Monastery is believed to hold a part of a veil that Veronica wiped blood from Christ’s face while on the cross. During the pilgrimage there is a short break in which Alicantinos stop and eat traditional rolls and fondillon a typical wine of the region.
All over Playa San Juan and San Juan you will be able to see the devoted with their traditional canes walking in masses. If you want to be a part of it get up now!
