Holloween origins

Publicado por TonyP a las 15 Oct 2008 Clasificado como Fiestas

On every October 31st the U.S. and several other countries celebrate, Halloween.

This festival has its origins in a pagan Celtic festival that used to take place on these dates as the end of harvesting their crops, in which time they took advantage to store them and at the same time do the killings for the winter. This day of October is taken to its conclusion as the former believed that this particular night, the boundary between life and death disappeared and the dead became dangerous.

In the XIX century Irish immigrants brought this tradition to the U.S.. and since then has been held in that country, then spread to others who have adopted it.

This festival, in the places where it takes place, marks the starting point towards Christmas, the shops get all their goods and ornaments and start their propaganda, families are prepared and make plans to celebrate Christmas and the end of the year almost is around the corner..

to be continued….
