Banyeres de Mariola, the highest town in the province

This beautifultown in the district of L’Alcoià located in the north of the province (it is the highest town), is certainly a great destination for a day touring the streets and enjoying the surrounding nature.

At the foot of the Sierra de Mariola, the Banyeres town offers several monuments of interest, highlighting the magnificent castle fortress, where the views of the region are simply stunning, and best of all is  every Sunday there are Free guided tours to visit all the monuments (which are not few).

But if what you really like is the nature, you must go on one of the long or short routes starting from the town such as Route Molins, an educational walk along the river that runs through some of Vinalopó which were the main centers of production of paper for Banyeres Mariola; through this route, you can see the rich flora and fauna in a landscape that has barely been altered.

And if that is not enough let´s not even talk aobut their cuisine, its fantastic pericana (you must try it, the Olleta, gazpachos with rabbit, baked rice, and of course, their traditional drink. “The Herberos“, made from anise marinated with herbs and medicines.

anyway, if you have never visited this quaint little town, now is the time to do it..

Enjoy!!
