Swine Flu
I love to refer to the Spanish sayings because they will always describe the situations as accurately as possible, so today I echo the same and I say: “Éramos pocos y parió la abuela” ( “We were few and then the grandmother gave birth.”)
Economic crisis with all its consequences, unemployment, uncontrolled immigration, wars, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, etc.. etc. etc. and if all this is not enough suddenly something new appears, with a Mexican passport and discriminatory features which preferentially attacks the young (what a paradox) , a flu that threatens to end all of us if we don’t take care. This time it was the pigs (pardon me) the guilty ones (before were the birds). The truth is that in less than a week this disease has spread across the world causing death or physical nuances to hundreds of people and threatening to become an epidemic.
Fortunately, in Spain it is still not as serious a situation and although cases have arisen in different regions, according to Health Center, everything is under control and they are assuring us that we have accumulated enough medicines to combat this flue (Tamiflu).
In our area we have about 6 people who are suspected of suffering from this disease and are under observation at the San Juan Hospital in Alicante. What can we do to prevent infection? Well, we recommend a lot of hygiene, washing hands every time you go out into the street, cover your mouth when sneezing or tcoughing and if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, joint pain, vomiting or diarrhea go to the doctor or hospital as soon as possible and don’t kiss or hug small children if you have come from the outside and have not properly cleansed yourself. Follow these instructions, it is for your own good and that of the community.
from Playa San Juan we wish a speedy recovery to those infected or suspected to be infected and we hope that this is just all a scare….. Oh! and let’s make sure the grandmother doesn’t keep giving birth.
