As a blogger I meet a lot of people, I talk with many business owner, neigbors, tourists etc and lately there is one topic that stands out and is becoming more obious and that is the crisis! They say we should not give it importance as to not attract more negativity to ourselves but the truth is that sometimes talking about things helps you heal.
I beleive there are many people out there right now that are just like me and you, middle class citizens who are finding themselves in a situation they have never been in. Maybe the husband loses his job, then his wife, slowly the unemployment runs out and the bills keep piling up. What was once a very happy stable middle class family is now a struggling low class needy family who fears the future. People who had everything, a great house, car, could afford to buy nice clothes, go on vacation, buy their kids anything they wanted are now having to cut extra school activities, bring their kids home from school at lunch time as to no incurr the monthly fee, not being able to go anywhere for vacation and worst of all at times may even have to borrow money from family members or friends or even have to go to their local church to ask for basic necesities such as food and clothing.

The other day I was booking a business trip for my husband and I went to the Spanair website and found they are having an awsome promotion. When you purchase any ticket from now until April 5th, you will have the option of unveiling a daisy which will let you know if you have received a 5%, 25%, 50% or 100% off on your next ticket!!
We got a code for our next purchase for 25% off! Pretty cool since my husband does a lot of traveling and we will be turning that coupon in very soon. So Spring Break is almost here, do you have any plans to go anywhere? Visit Spanair and save..

I know, it’s crazy it is not even April yet and we have to already start thinking about the next school year 2009/2010 which will start in September.. If you have a little one who will turn 3 before the end of this year you need to start thinking about schools and if you have just moved here or will be moving and need to change schools you also need to get moving.
Most pre registrations start now, you should contact the school you are interested in and they will guide your though the process. You can visit our directory for a full list of primary schools in Playa San Juan or visit the Ayuntamiento de Alicante’s web site for a list of schools by district.

Like every year the night of Saturday to Sunday at 2 am (which will by then Sunday the 29th of March) we will end our winter time making it necessary to change our clocks and “Spring Ahead” one hour to 3 am, so we will lose an hour of sleep!
This which may seem like an inconvenience has an objective to take advantage of the sun light which represents an energy saving measure which is a good thing in these days of crisis. So don’t forget this Sunday at 2am turn your clock one hour ahead so it’s 3 am..(of course you don’t need to stay up to 2 am to do this..hahahaha you can do it earlier…)

I’m not sure if you all are aware but today is the “Hour of the Earth”. What does this mean? Well, simply put today March 28th at 20:30 hours we as citizens could make a difference. WWF has organized this impresive campaing which counts with more than 1,700 cities in 80 countries and hundreths of companies to turn off their lights in a symbolic gesture for the support of our planet.
Here is Spain companies such as Telefónica, Coca-Cola, Prisa and Vitruvio Leo Burnet are among the many who have joined this cause. And buildings such as Valencia’s City Hall, Plaza Cibeles in Madrid, La Alhambra in Granada, the Gunggenheim museum and many others will turn off their lights today for one hour starting at 20:30.
