La Playa San Juan

The Alicante Casino located in the port area will officially begin its journey next March 10th. A while back we wrote an article about its design (which I think is very ugly), but today I will not even touch on that subject.

Today we are going to praise them, because aside from the front, I think a city like Alicante should have a casino, and specially where it is located, next to the port where it is said there are many people who have money and are ready to have some fun.

I lived in the United States for a long time and although I think Spanish food is one of the best in the world, there are still certain things that I do miss from the States..Things that you can’t quite find in your local grocery store such as pancake mix, cake mix, oatmeal, frosting etc…

And speaking about frosting, the other day was my daughter’s birthday party and I wanted to make her a special Barbie cake, so what did I do?? I visited The American Store where I looked for strawberry frosting but saw they didn’t have any.. but I emailed them and they were able to find some for me and in a couple of days I received a package with all the ingredients I needed to make my super duper cake.

My daughter loved it and I’m just thrilled to have found an internet store that offers such awesome customer service and products that I can’t live without.. Pay them a visit.. and find out all the American goodies waiting for you…

In these times, it is difficult to find good professionals in any field and I’m super demanding for my things, especially with my hair, having said that I must recommend the excelent work and professionalism of Jose Luis Gil, the person that was able to, after trying many hairdressers help me with my image.

Well, this great hairdresser, has begun a new journey alone, and has opened a modest but charming hair salon (in these times that is all you can do) in the Venecia Shopping Center, ground floor, next to the fruit grocer.

No this is not true, at least not entirely true, our body doesn’t care what season it is, but we do and in the end it shows..

After the fall and winter we have been having, basically a little colder than we are used to here in the Mediterranean, we are spending more time at home with the desire to eat “warm” home cooked meals such as stews, soups and bread to dip in the gravy and ….. Ok, I’m going to stop before I lose myself..

Having an appetite is not the same as being hungry, since the latter term refers to a physiological need to eat, but it is clear that the feeling or “need” to eat is simply entertainment for the boday and  we use food to entertain ourselves, to simply chew something, anything, and clearly that something normally does not add anything useful to the body but rather adds extra calories we don’t need.

As we all know Playa San Juan has a lot to offer not only to its citizens but to the many tourists who visit us every year. And we were glad to hear that the Generalitat in colaboration with the Spanish Tourism office in London, the Alicante Municipal Toursim office and the Hotel Meliá, have organized a familirization trip ( ‘fam trip’).
