Christmas is the perfect time to give back to our community

Without warning Christmas has arrived. How do I know? very simple, just walking around Mercadona the other day I found all sorts of turron and polvorones throughout the store as well as the decorations. And today as soon as I got home there was another one of those toy catalogs, this time from Toys R Us, not even directed to me but to our children, so they could begin their long list to Santa Clause or the Three Kings (or in our case both).

Fofito in the CAM auditorium

Fofito, Fofito.. my 4 year old daughter loves the sound of the name and the clown that comes with the name. So I was excited to find out that he will be performing in the CAM auditorium on December 19th at 6:30 pm for the delight of many children.

He will present some of his new songs and some classics such as El ratón de Martín, Chino capuchino o Al pasar la barca and play games with all the kids. A fun afternoon your kids will love.

Books and Christmas

Another one of the things that make us realize that Christmas is here, apart from the chaos, shopping, lights, the cold etc … is that, once again in the Paseo de Gadea (in front of the Corte Ingles) until Saturday December 8th there are 17 booths that make up the VI Antique and used Book Fair organized by Gremio de Libreros Lance de la CV.

Goodbye Sangueta, goodbye

It seems that the much longed Palacios de Congresos de Alicante, will begin construction in early 2009.

I think that a city like Alicante, which looks to the future and hopes to be a model for its community and the country couldn’t continue without something as vital as this.

The biggest difficulty of this project was figuring out its location, because a complex of such size requires space, good communications and that its surroundings be attractive to its customers, and finally a spot has been found, in the Barrio de la Sangueta, and that is where it hurts me personally because this is the place where I spent many hours of my childhood, because my paternal grandparents lived there.

Nativity Scene

The mayor of Alicante, Sonia Castedo, along with almost all the municipal corporation inaugurated this week the municipal Nativity scene located in the new building of Alicante’s City Hall.

This year the Nativity Scene Association of Alicante has developed a spectacular nativity scene that includes the three main birth scenes of , the Nativity, the arrival of the Three Kings and the Annunciation, and will be exhibited until January 6th, at regular hours of the consistory. (Monday to Friday from 10 to 14 hours and from 17 to 20 pm Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to 13 pm).
