Cibervoluntarios

Published by under Tecnology

Giving back to the community is one of the things that Playa San Juan wants to achieve in any way it can. That is why organizations such as Cibervoluntarios is something we support. Civervoluntarios is a non profit organizations that offers free internet courses to minorities such as women, the elderly, the handicap, children and persons who otherwise would not have this opportunity and who have never used a computer and more importantly the internet.

With the help of different specialized volunteers who are curious, pro active people, who want to share their passion and love of new technologies anyone who is interested in learning can simply sign up and learn on a one on one basis, in a classroom, through the internet, lectures, conferences, workshops, events, seminars among other sources.

La Playa San Juan has signed up to become a volunteer and we hope to be able to share our knowledge of the internet and blogging world with all those who are eager to learn. If you are interested in becoming a volnteer or want to take advantage of their free courses you can visit their website to sign up.

Alicante’s Principal Theater

One of the most important cultural offerings of Alicante is undoubtedly its Principal Theater. This splendid building located centrally in our capital with ample parking places near the same offers different artistic genres, such as musicals, ballets and classical theater most of the year.

The theater was inaugurated in 1847 under the name New Theater, a few years later it changed its name to Alicante Theater to finally take the current name of  the Principal Theater. Its diverse programming is enjoyed by all Alicantinos as well as tourist who are able to enjoy the high level of performances that pass through the theater each year.

You can purchase tickets directly from the theater or from Servicam. Don’t miss this years performances which promise to be one of the best. Remember the theater is just a bus, tram, taxi or car ride away from Playa San Juan.

Eco Recyle Playa San Juan

Published by under Alicante,fontana C.C.

I can’t believe it, is fall almost here?? It’s time to do the change of clothes again. Those of you who have small children know what this means… figure out what still fits, give away what doesn’t, figure out what to keep for next year.. and on and on.. But what do you do with all the stuff you want to give away.

There are several options such as donating items to a church or even easier find your closest recycle bins. La Playa San Juan as well as all of Alicante have the very handy dandy recycling containers that are placed throughout the city on certain days so we can drop off anything we want.

Here in Playa San Juan there are two drop-off locations: on Wednesday in Avenida Miriam Blasco in the Deportista serfio Cardell rontonda and on Saturday’s in the Fontana Commercial Center on the corner of Avenida Santander from 11 to 14 hours a from 16:30 to 19;30 in the afternoon.

There is no excuse to recyle and this not only means giving away your old clothing but remember that there are containers all over the city for plastics, bottles, paper and cardboard and regular garbage. And if you have large items you can’t take yourself all you need to do is call their toll free number at 900 729 729 and they will be more that happy to pick it up for you.

There you have it, recycle and give away anything you don’t need the right way.

My visit to Tabarca

Published by under tourists,travel

Last month I got together with some friends and went to visit the island of Tabarca. We took a small boat from the port of Alicante with cruise company called cruceroskontiki, a round-trip journey in a high-speed catamaran with underwater marine reserve views which only cost 17 euros. In just 45 minutes we were in Tabarca. It was the first time my son had ever been on a boat and he loved it.

We sat on the inside as a precaution, the sea surprised us with a welcoming splash that refreshed all of us on deck. We arrived there, and we moved a little away from the main beach that is very tiny. It was a bright and sunny day and everything was beautiful.

We toured all the small corners of the island, and found a great rock that directly let us jump right off to the sea. The water was clear and warm. a quaint little town that reminded me a little of Choroní, edo Aragua, in my homeland of Venezuela. I hope to return soon but this time stay long in one of there hostals.

Also check the Tabarca adventure from one of our blogger friends por ahi no es, beautiful pictures of the island and great story to go with it.
