Fonts de algar

Published by bella under outdoors, travel

When I want to get away with the family, one of my favorite spots around the Playa San Juan region has to be Las Fuentes del Algar (the Fountains of Algar) which lie about 3km from the center of Callosa d’en Sarrià. This magical place cultural, is part of te ecological and economic heritage of this town and the Marina Baixa area.

About 45 km from Alicante it might seem difficult to find but if you follow the directions given on their website you should be good to go. Once here, you will want to experience these “fountains” in all their glory. You can follow paths to view the botanical gardens, natural pools, water museum and best of all have lunch at the restaurant in the entryway, where you can sit and listen to the surrounding falls.

Don’t forget to buy some nísperos a fruit from this region which has a taste I can’t fully describe but is delicious. If you are visiting the Alicante region, don’t forget to pass by this wonderful spot and enjoy the nature it offers.

I Open Beach Tenis

Group Anec is organizing the very first Beach Tennis tournament on August 2nd and 3rd. This new Tenis-Padel and some volleyball modality is becoming a very popular sport with local sports fanatics because it is a fun way to stay in shape and healthy. The tournament will be held in the Voley Playa area in front of the Aitana Restaurant in Playa San Juan.

This sport is played with tennis or paddle rackets and balls, the court is the same as in beach volley and a net is placed somewhat lower than in volleyball . The score is done just like in Tennis although sometimes sets can be reduced to four games. The object of the game is to pass the ball over to the other team to be returned without touching the floor, it is played in pairs, a point is won when the ball is not returned within the field.

There will be cash and sporting good awards for all the winners.

For more information you can reach voley alicante.

Volleyball School in Playa San Juan

Published by TonyP under outdoors, sports, beach, education

Few sports have seen such a boom in recent years as Beach Volleyball. Pioneers of this activity have been the beaches of California (USA) and Copacabana (Brazil), to give some examples. We now have the opportunity to learn or refine this sport in our Playa San Juan. The Club Voley Playa arena Alicante and the Grupo Anec present the Fourth edition of the beach volleyball Summer School in Playa San Juan.

The school will take place during the months of July and August in the training areas of Club Voley that are set up in the Playa San Juan at the height of Restaurant Aitana. This program is geared towards all ages, from children groups to adults. Each age group will have a program tailored to their needs.

We hope that both young and the “mature” don’t miss this opportunity to learn a new sport, while exercising their muscles in a fun way.

The School will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, with two separate classes:

Group A from 18-19:30 hours

Group B from 19:30 - 21 hours

When it comes time to choosing a place to go on your vacation when you have a physical handicap you must make sure that the chosen place has all the amenities you will need to be mobile and get around. In Playa San Juan and the Alicante region there are many hotels, rental cars, restaurant etc, that offer special services to those in need.

minusval2000 is a great website that offers you all the information you will need to find the appropriate places you can visit that offer solutions to the needs of those who are not capable of getting around or have extra needs.

The Beach an Alternative to the Gym

Published by TonyP under outdoors, health, sports, beach

If you’re one of those people who doesn’t like to exercise every day, but know that it is necessary, and are not willing to go to a gym what can you do? Well, going to the beach might be a good alternative for you. Swimming is probably one of the most comprehensive exercises that exists, you can swim at least 15 minutes, it will help all the muscles of your body and in addition to the circulatory system, respiratory and your heart; A very complete workout. Another good exercise on the beach is to walk for about 25 to 30 minutes at a light pace, there is no need to run, it will be beneficial to your leg muscles, respiration, circulation and helps reduce the signs of diabetes, among many other things.

Playa San Juan is the ideal place to practice these “sports”, not only do you have an ample beach with nice sand, you have a beautiful promenade. Now you have no excuse, go ahead the beach is ….. good for your health!
