La Playa San Juan

The other day we found a great place for us (the adults) and them (the children). It is called Nereida Heladería and Cafetería. This family owned bussiness is a small cafeteria and ice cream shop with the added plus of a children’s indoor entertainment center.

This cafeteria offers delicious home made ice cream as well as your typical cafeteria goodies and the best part of all a FREE child’s play area with the purchase of and consumption item. We were delighted to find this spot and were very pleased with the excellent customer service and attention we received.

Nereida also offers birthday party packages so you could celebrate your children’s party’s for a low price. They have different menu options to choose from all with cake and sweets included.

The Juvenile Municipal Center in Playa San Juan is offering free summer courses for children 6 years or older in their center located in Avenida Costa Blanca. The program runs from July 1st through August 22nd, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 1 pm for children aged 6 to 11 and Tuesday and Thursday for children 12 to 18. The best part is that this is all FREE!! yes, free.

The courses include: Arts and crafts, games, reading course, group activities, excursions and much more. You must hurry though and sign your child up, there is a long list and unfortunately, the admittance will be based on a lottery. I have signed up my little ones, I do hope we win the lottery!! The list with the children admitted will be posted in the center on June 16th. Good luck to all!!

Club Stadio Sports Center is located in calle arpon close to the Cabo Huertas centro de salud in Playa San Juan. I love this place because they have a babysitting service and a great ball place for the kids, where you can also celebrate birthdays. I also love the outdoor cafeteria where you can hang out with friends before or after your workout. They have a small store where you can buy anything sport related you need in a hurry. They also have a hair salon and physiotherapists!

They offer a different variety of classes such as belly dance, ballet, yoga, latin dance, pilates, cardio pump, biking and swimming classes to name a few..and you have all the equipment you need to lift weights, bicycle, and much more.. A soccer field is also on site as well as paddle and tennis courts. A prefect place to come together with friends and stay healthy at the same time.

This year has flown by, June is almost here then July and August are among us and those of us with kids have to figure out what to do with them. There are many options like sending older kids away to camps such as the campament de fontes, or enrolling them in a summer school for the month of July..August you are on your own with them.

Public Schools such as El Faro in Playa San Juan offer great summer programs for children enrolled or not in that school. For the entire month of July you can drop off your kids as early as 7:30 am and pick them up b 15:30. In this time they will have swimming classes, English classes, sports, theater, arts and crafts, computers and lots of fun with their friends..

Last weekend we took our kids to Fontana for some ice cream at cucuruchone and some fun..When we got there we found ourselves with a huge jumping house.. Our children begged us to join in the fun and of course we couldn’t say no. For a euro each our kids enjoyed jumping and laughing for about 15 minutes or so.. All the children were having a ball and I thought to myself what a great idea.

I looked at the name of the bouncy house and found that it was called brincoshinchables so as soon as I got home I checked them out on the internet. It seems the company is owned by a husband and wife team from Argentina who started this company that offers more than just bouncy houses. They are a children’s entertainment mobile unit and offer, entertainment for birthday parties, special events, school events, shopping center events, they even offer great birthday cakes..

I will definitely keep them in mind for the next Urba event!!!

One of our kids favorite place to celebrate birthday’s with their friends is “Los Pelaos Park” in Playa San Juan, Alicante. It is what a call a “ball place” meaning there is an inside jungle maze and ball pit where the kids could have fun running and jumping around. But its not just a ball place, the owners have thought of everything.

The children are entertained by a host who plays games with them (with prices for the winner). The kids also get to sing songs, get their faces painted, watch a puppet show and more.. “merienda” (snack time) is all set up with cute little trays that offer the kids sandwiches, juices, chips and yogurt. The cake of-course your choice of chocolate or..what else more chocolate.

The birthday boy or girl is dressed up like a king or queen and sat down to receive their gifts.. One by one they enjoy opening their gifts and sharing the joy with their friends. Then a group picture is taken and placed in a large cardboard where the kids draw pictures and sign their best wishes for the birthday king or queen.

Meanwhile, the parents can relax and enjoy a nice cold beer, coffee, and snacks in a separate area, knowing their kids are safe and having a blast. Pelaos Park also offers mini packages for kids not part of a birthday party who just want to go on any day they choose and play for a while.
