When some of my girlfriends want to get together and get a beer, one of the first place we think of to meet is “The Place’, although it has been a form of confusion on occasion with my American friends when we say , where do we meet and I say “The Place” and they say “What place?” and I say “THE place”…But in reality everyone knows where the place is.. and that place is The Place Irish

Located in avenida Condomina this very cool happening spot offers all kinds of beers and cocktails with peanuts of course, an outside terrace and an indoor bar with local bands playing in the weekends. It’s the perfect place to just sit down and hang.. I love this place, The Place.

Our kids can’t live without their DS, they take it wherever they go..We are even hooked! So, when it’s time to buy a new game its off to Game Stop, where they kindly help us with all our needs. One of the great things about this store, aside from their wide variety of games and great service is the option to purchase used games. You can also trade in old games and try something new.

They not only offer the games but the actual players that go with it, such as Wii, XBox, PS3, PSP, well you get the picture, all your kids (and you) need for your entertainment purpases. What was life before all this tecnology? Not sure, but I know my kids would go crazy without their games, so thank you Game Stop in Playa San Juan!!!

This weekend music, fireworks and laughter could be heard all though La Playa San Juan with the motive of the yearly “Urba parties”. This past weekend was the official party weekend where all neigbors could get together and make as much noise as they wanted without any restrictions. Food, music and celebration could be heard everywhere until the wee hours of the morning.

For others such as the FontPlaya store owners, their plans for a weekend full of fun in the beach was canceled due to non authorization from City Hall. They had everything planned, fireworks, bouncing houses for kids, music and a huge celebration that had to be canceled at the last minute when they received notification that they did not have the proper permits. Advertisement for the event had already been handed out, and there were many unhappy customers that didn’t understand what happened.

The Font Playa merchants are planning on meeting with the officials in September to clear up the matter.

Servicaja is a great website to find any kind of entertainment you wish such as movies, theater, music, sports and much more. All you need to do is select the event you are intersted in, the city, the date and the search will give you as many opcions as you wish.

When the girls and I go out for a little getaway we usually end up in Texaco. Located in Avenida Costablanca. This great little place located in Avenida Costa Blanca is great for those after dinner drinks, beer with friends.. A local hang out with entertainment, music and all kids of drinks.

If you want to just hand out you can sit on one of the many terrace tables and enjoy the company of your friends, and if you need a little more excitement, you can venture indoors and dance the night away..A fun place to enjoy the night life of Playa San Juan.

Tonight at 21;30 h don’t miss the theater production of the Wizard of Oz by Leticia Sabater . The performance will take place at the Cultural Platform area of the Provincial Council of Alicante located in Avenida Niza, as part of the VI International summer festival 2008 in Playa San Juan.

A free production that all kids will love. We will not miss this for the world, our kids love the theater and look forward theses summer performances all year long.

There is no doubt that soccer is one of the most universal sports around, it is played in five continents and in almost every country in some degree or other and growing more and more everyday. In Europe it sure is one of the most popular sports, but soccer also helps to foster international relations and exchanges experiences through its championships.

That is why the Alicante F.C. initiative is very commendable since they have decided to issue an annual pass for foreigners residing in our area at a reduced price in order to attract them to our local soccer games and integrate them more into the community. We congratulate the Alicante F.C., all other associations should take note and do the same!

In the summer all we want to do is to stay cool! And what better way to stay cool and have a blast than to visit our neighboring city Benidorm and one of their many attrractions. Terra Natura Water Park is one of the best options this summer. Located inside Terra Natura, it offers a wave pool, water slides such as “the Black Hole”, “Adventure River”, and the “Zigzag giant slide” , a children’s pool, a lighthouse breakwater and even a SPA.

If you are a local you should consider purchasing the annual pass to Terra Natura or Terra Natura plus the Water Park and you will save a considerable amount of money. If you are an adult you will feel like a child again and if you are a child you can’t imagine the fun you will have. They also offer a lion marine show, at 13:00 and 16:30, that is exciting as well as educational.

Group Anec is organizing the very first Beach Tennis tournament on August 2nd and 3rd. This new Tenis-Padel and some volleyball modality is becoming a very popular sport with local sports fanatics because it is a fun way to stay in shape and healthy. The tournament will be held in the Voley Playa area in front of the Aitana Restaurant in Playa San Juan.

This sport is played with tennis or paddle rackets and balls, the court is the same as in beach volley and a net is placed somewhat lower than in volleyball . The score is done just like in Tennis although sometimes sets can be reduced to four games. The object of the game is to pass the ball over to the other team to be returned without touching the floor, it is played in pairs, a point is won when the ball is not returned within the field.

There will be cash and sporting good awards for all the winners.

For several years now Playa San Juan has been offering a Summer Festival for the locals and tourist with  performances by renowned  nationwide artists. This year, among other acts are Leticia Sabater, Luis Aguilé and Karina. All performances, free of charge will begin at 22:00 hrs.
